hello, hello, hello and welcome back to dose of delusion. It is me, your host, yours truly jay, and it has been way too long. It has been a few weeks where I have had the pleasure of catching up and chatting with the uh, beautiful cardigan wearing. Love him, miss him, cannot wait to see him again in a couple of weeks. But I'm here with the beautiful AJ the Silver Fox. How are you Tell me?
Speaker 2:everything. Hi, I'm good. My cardigan today was inspired by Grover, although my friend said Cookie Monster and I said why? Because I'm fat. But that's neither here nor there.
Speaker 1:you you are not. You are not fat at not even the slightest. How dare?
Speaker 2:he actually say that, but that's like I said, neither here nor there. Um, I'm, I'm good, I actually um, um, the past couple of weeks it's just been like the holidays thing, and then, yes, um, um, new years, and then trying to get into like new goals in 2025. And 2024 started with such a bang and it was just like amazing. And then, like mid-year, there was just some change that was going on, um, and it's just like that change came through and then it's like, okay, 2025 is going to be something totally different. Um, so, the energies that are going on on the universe and everything that's like going around right now. It's just kind of like going with the flow, and sometimes I'm writing the flow well, and sometimes I'm like doggle, uh, doggy paddling to keep up with the current. So, um, that's been my 2025 so far. Um, but all all good at the end of the day, because we're still here, we're still kicking and we're still smiling. So what about you?
Speaker 1:I love that for you. That's amazing.
Speaker 2:That's literally just all the ups and downs in the first uh 13 days exactly exactly, but you know that that's that's, that's what the universe is putting in front of me, so I'm just like maintaining that okay, I'm.
Speaker 1:I love to hear that. As for me, I think last time we talked I said that cabin fever was studying it and whatnot. Well, I really chose to embrace it. It was nice. I really enjoyed my, my time away from the office and, you know, shutting off, logging off that work email, not answering those work group chats that was, uh, really, really neat, a great mental cleanse and draining and whatnot. But, um, I needed it. No, my 2025 has been off to a decent start some some ups and some downs, but ultimately it's been really good.
Speaker 1:I, you know, there's something that, like I, I'm almost embarrassed to say because I have to defend the fact that I'm not a resolutioner, right, meaning at the gym, right, I've never been. Okay, I'm not going to say I've never been a fan of them because I always support them, always support them, but I think we all know, generally it can be a little frustrating. But, hey, more power to you. I will typically adjust my gym times for them. But, to be honest, when I go to the gym in the mornings yeah, when I go to the gym in the mornings, it's usually before them. I'm, I'm usually at the gym by like five, 36 o'clock at the latest. So it's, and I think most of the resolutioners are in the afternoon.
Speaker 1:However, however, the point I'm making is I started my hunt to sign up for a gym local here back in like September, october, more closer to October, and there's a very popular gym here called Vita Fitness and it's very popular. There's like six or seven locations around the whole DMV area and they're massive and they're, like you know, just conglomerate gyms, but I don't know how to explain it. Anyways, really trendy, and their memberships are $200 a month. Like you know, just conglomerate gyms, but I don't know how to explain it. Anyways, really trendy, and their memberships are 200 a month. Okay, I know.
Speaker 2:And then I was like, that's not bad.
Speaker 1:I never thought I'd spend that much on a gym like ever in my life on a monthly situation. But it is three blocks from my apartment, it's got. It's almost like a little soho house. They have a hair salon, they have a little cafe, a restaurant, that rooftop pool that's exclusive access where you can hang out at the pool and the bar and the lounge and whatnot. So it's very exclusive, yeah, and have spa. I mean the whole thing all wrapped up in one nice big building. And I'm thinking, well, for $200 a month I can go there and telework if I want to.
Speaker 1:That's not too bad yeah, uh, come to summertime, enjoy a not crowded pool. You know what I mean. That's exclusive with djs and the whole thing, and this would be cool. They wanted an enormous amount of just in the initiation of startup fees and I was like you know what I'm not comfortable with paying all that. This I don't. I don't like monthly payment. I can wrap my head around, I can get used to that, but I don't really want to do this. Almost it was me over $400 a month to start. I mean, not a month, but $400 to start.
Speaker 2:And I was like no, but why I don't get it? What was it? Or why what it was?
Speaker 1:an initiation fee of like 150 and then taxes and then like some sort of account activation fee, and they would not budge. And it was one of those places where it's like if you don't want to sign up, somebody else will. You know what I mean. So I was like, okay, well, you're not going to come down on that at all, I'll wait. And I thought they'd call me in a couple of days and be like, hey, we'll, we'll, we'll waive one of those fees. And they didn't. And they still called me every few days, asked me if I was interested, and they never waived a fee.
Speaker 1:Then I was thinking, you know what? I went back in for a tour and did the whole tour, the whole thing. And I was like, hey, I love it, I want to do it. I just don't want to pay the 200 plus initiation startup fees. That doesn't make any sense to me. And I was like will you guys be having a special come, like December, like every other gym? And he's like, no, sir, we won't. I'm like bullshit. So like I'll wait, I'll wait another month, there'll be a special.
Speaker 1:AJ there was no special. So then I started Googling. No, I started googling. No, I started googling vita fitness, thinking vita fitness dc specials. Vita fitness dc holiday specials, vita fitness dc new year no, and there's like reddit threads about how they have never offer a special and I was like who the fuck do they think they are? So then I started searching other comparable gyms around berries, saint james, equinox, and they're all bears and say james's, st James, equinox, and they're all well. Barry's and St James are a little different, but, like even Equinox, a gym that I thought I'd never go to is also a couple hundred dollars a month and guess what? Zero initiation fees. So I go, I tour Equinox and it is the most tranquil, calming, beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, spa-like gym that I've ever been to and I signed up. So that is how I ended up being a resolutioner, without having any intention on being a resolutioner.
Speaker 2:The one in Logan's circle, or which one Are you?
Speaker 1:Googling it, I am.
Speaker 2:It, it looks really nice.
Speaker 1:Are you looking at the equinox?
Speaker 2:I'm looking at the one that you didn't go.
Speaker 1:Oh, vita, yeah, okay, so all right, so we're talking yeah, vita, you know, vita is gorgeous, don't get me wrong, vita is like three level.
Speaker 1:It's three or four levels. It's. It's great. But like when I went think about any late trending gym, the the music was like upbeat, it was the, the. All the floors were like dark, you know lots of equipment and it was just more of like a rustic, almost like if you're in a club, right. And I first went. I loved it, I wanted to join it. That's why I was like I want to join right now. I just don't want to pay $400. I wanted to be a part of this gym. My wanted to be a part of this gym. My friends that I've made here go to that gym.
Speaker 1:Until I stepped foot in equinox, it was like stepping foot into a spa from the moment you walk in. It is beautiful. It is light colored wood. I know what. I don't know what you call that sand or taupe or whatnot, but I mean floor to ceiling panel. It was just calm. They know you by name because the way the accounts are set up and when you approach it knows that you're there and then they greet you by name. The music is calm. Even the gym floor is really chill and quiet. There are all their Pilates and yogas and fitness and boxing and telework areas A million cardio machines, spring-loaded floors so you're not hurting your knees while you're doing things. The locker room is massive and clean 24-7. It smells amazing and all your products that you could use a generous steam room. I felt a lot.
Speaker 2:So now you're one of those Equinox gays that they make fun of. Who's they? Well, me and everyone.
Speaker 1:I guess. So I'm obsessed with it and I keep telling my friends like I know Vida was amazing. I wanted to be part of it. But once you step foot in Equinox, it's like stepping foot into a spa. Every time I leave I feel like I just left a massage.
Speaker 2:Nice.
Speaker 1:It's great. So that's how my years have started, with that anyways, which I've really been enjoying every day going to a little spa Cute Love that I know. It has been so much fun. And that steam room has been so great. I've been in it every day.
Speaker 2:It is so nice, that's so nice. Does it have like the eucalyptus scent?
Speaker 1:It's exactly what it has has, which is also my favorite word to say um, but I tell you, when I tell you it's, it's, it's really clean, it's really nice, it's uh, they're very, very friendly. They better be friendly for as much as they're right, right, yeah, uh, but no, I've been doing that, and then so I'm also sorry to really real, real quick.
Speaker 2:I'm so sorry because you were like, oh, it's a popular shit, so I'm like, oh popular. So I finally saw wicked I love this for you.
Speaker 1:Let's talk about it.
Speaker 2:Tell me yeah, no, exactly. So I. I mean, I saw it in the theater like ages ago. So everyone was like you need to see the movie, you need to see the movie. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, I'll see it, I'll see it. Well, it finally came out on like apple tv so I was like, well, let's watch it. So got it, watched it. It was so good. I, yeah, want to see it again and again um already did fabulous in it, um, so did um.
Speaker 2:What was uh? Befelza cynthia? Yes, aruba arivo, what you are.
Speaker 1:You're gonna get gay slapped by everybody. You know what?
Speaker 2:that's fine I don't care, maybe I want that. Speaking of which, um, we'll talk about that later um cynthia arrivo yeah, she was so good, so good.
Speaker 1:I enjoyed it you know I was watching a movie and cynthia reaver I I I liked her a lot from. I believe she was in the harriet movie. Right, who? Harriet the movie? Harriet the stars? Definitely um harriet. The movie came out in 2019. It was, uh, the adaptation at the adaptation, but the harriet tupman the underground. I did not see that lady, I never saw it either. I just saw the clips and watch some. It was a musical, so I'll watch some things from it, okay, she was elite. She was a lead in that.
Speaker 2:I've heard.
Speaker 1:I've heard some of her other works from some of her other Broadway's Broadway shows that she's done. She's amazing powerhouse voice watching wicked. Of course we know ari, we already know our voice right and I'm thinking why are they holding?
Speaker 1:why is she not not ari, but cynthia, why cynthia not? Like all the songs that she's singing are just, I feel like they're very muted. They were very held back and then I think I realized is defying gravity was the final song of part one and there was no way they were going to let any other track outdo Defying Gravity. So I think they definitely had to have her pull back a little bit so that Defying Gravity could be the Erivo track.
Speaker 2:But also I think that in her character development she was finding her voice and finding her who she is and and finally, no longer that shy girl that was getting made fun of. So I think it was a build-up of that as well. Yeah I like that she was holding space for it, so hold my finger.
Speaker 1:Yeah, no, I'm so glad you saw it. I was, uh, I remember I made jokes about the movie, you know, in tweets and whatnot, saying if they could play the movie at 1.25 speed, because after I found out it was three hours long, or two hours and 47 minutes long, and then after I watched something, I could have watched that movie twice. Its length has still been happy yeah, no, it was so good.
Speaker 2:I um the the. What was, madame morbis?
Speaker 1:or horrible, or morrible, right of no, I don't know who you're talking about.
Speaker 2:She was like the head mistress of oh yeah, uh, I love her.
Speaker 1:She's played by michelle yo yes, so good.
Speaker 2:I well, I love her. Anything she does, she's like gonna be excellent in it. Ever since, like crouching tiger, hidden dragon, she's been my favorite and I haven't seen that since it was in theaters. Okay, oh, wow, oh, I know, I I mean by the time I was of age, I was two it was like in theaters, my goodness how old are you?
Speaker 2:I did it in theaters, though um, I was like in the womb, so that's either there. Um, um, no, no, no so. But I liked like all the outfits. I love that they were like the school. Um, they were all like similar but so different. And they put boys in skirts and and in or in kilts, whatever you want to call them, and like or like a pants skirt combo. Where there were, there were female school girls that were like in pants or whatever Like it was. I just liked how good the costumes were. Um, I thought it was very, very good I well, okay, we love bowen yang.
Speaker 1:Do you love bowen yang?
Speaker 2:yeah, he's hilarious the best yeah, I like it when he plays um the hippo on snl. Have you seen that?
Speaker 1:that's good yes, oh my god, uh mudang yes he does such a good job he's, so he's why he's not even more faint. I mean, you're on snl, I guess you've made it, but like why is he not on more big screen?
Speaker 2:things blows my mind because he is so talented and that's why let's be real it's because he's gay, because he's asian and there's like that's like an inequality thing for sure. Not to get too serious about it, but like, realistically, he should be way further along than what he is and I 100, no he.
Speaker 1:So I just saw him. Actually do you know? I just watched for the first time and I think it I don't know when it came out, but I just watched it a few weeks ago is a fire island oh, okay yeah, and that's how I'm in there, and I was thinking you were just way too good for this role.
Speaker 2:I still haven't seen that one.
Speaker 1:You haven't seen it. No, it's cute. It was a little campy, a little cheesy, right, but it was super cute and it was very stereotypical and that's not what I'm looking for I can't think of the word but where they just overdo every stereotype. But it was super cute and he was in and he played you know this little, you know ugly duckling, underdeveloped, you know in my shell kind of game, that, of course, a whole little story of it becoming bigger and better.
Speaker 2:Have you heard his podcast? It's less culture istas.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I was listening to it for a while not a while, but I listened to it off and on. And then, of course, they had mariah I didn't know that they had mariah carry on recently so that was huge for them. Yeah so yeah, I love his little podcast. It's his big podcast it's pretty little bucky that reminds me of the real housewives that season one, beverly hills, do you remember?
Speaker 1:no tell me it might have been season two when, uh, taylor's husband rip um, when he was like how's your little business doing? And she was like I find that rude. You say my little business was it taylor?
Speaker 2:no, that what you're talking about, pk. He says that about no story.
Speaker 1:It's business no, we're talking about I didn't know that. I'm talking about beverly hills, like season one about taylor, taylor, the blonde girl.
Speaker 2:What business is?
Speaker 1:she case in point, case in point. But the fact is her husband never respected her and one day, over coffee, he was like hey, how's your little business doing? And then she was like I don't appreciate you calling it my little business. Well, which? Well? It was known which was which was a compliment in itself, because it was nothing right.
Speaker 2:I mean, I didn't even know she speaking of housewives. We are all over the place. I'm fully caught up. Have you seen all of it? Yes, okay, what is going on?
Speaker 1:I lied to you. I am all caught up on salt lake city.
Speaker 1:But I cannot. I had to watch some of those episodes like twice. It was like when you watch a movie and then you go back and watch it again with your friends and there's big things that you didn't realize. You missed the again. These, these fucking, these these cast members they don't deserve awards. They don't deserve awards. These producers deserve nobel prizes, like I I I would provide fellatio to these producers because of how great they're putting these segments together and have me on the edge of my seat like a japanese during pearl harbor, like I cannot figure out what is happening here.
Speaker 2:It is they're so fucking good I need yes, I I'm not a fan of britney right like oh, she's stupid, she's she's become recording them, she's, she needs to leave. She's vile, she's heinous, she's. I've had her in my home. How dare she do something so vile?
Speaker 1:Meredith Marks, is that you?
Speaker 2:The rumors, the nastiness, the nastiness.
Speaker 1:No, no, no. Do you have a recording device in my room?
Speaker 2:That was too ridiculous, Meredith fuck you. Mark Calm down.
Speaker 1:I honestly one person who I think needs to go, even before Brittany, even though I can't stand Brittany with an. I is Whitney and I think I've turned on her. I've turned on her. I used to be a big fan of her, but I will say that in the last two episodes I loved that she could not keep a straight face for anything and I found that absolutely hilarious. If you wanted to get the real pulse check of the room, when that camera panned to britney I mean to whitney I just lost my shit same.
Speaker 2:You know and listen that that's the way they do it, that's how you should do it, and I think that that's all this reality tv that's going on, like from rupaul's drag race, which we'll talk about. That. If you've seen it, um, if not, we're fine, um, and the housewives is no. If you're not going to say anything, your face better say something, and because the camera's on you and it'll pan to you and you'll get it, you'll become a meme, and I think that that's what they're trying to do and but what is what?
Speaker 1:seriously, though, like back to that britney ho, what is what is up with her? Someone had said because I thought and correct me if I'm wrong, I probably am isn't she? She's not a friend of, she's a cast member. Right, she's on the opening. She's holding a snowflake. I skipped through it, I don't know, I thought I thought she was, but somebody said recently she's that she's holding a snowflake. I skipped through it. I don't know, I thought I thought she was, but somebody said recently she's that she's a friend of.
Speaker 2:Still and that she's trying really hard to.
Speaker 1:She got brought in from heather, yes, which I'm glad I'm I am so glad heather turned on her because I am a big heather stan. So I'm so glad heather turned her.
Speaker 2:It wasn't really a turn on. It was just like how fucking dare you? I've been putting my name out there for you and you do something like this, Like one, and the way her story just fucking kept on changing. And her guys, what about me?
Speaker 1:Shut the fuck up when she when, when she does that Because she keeps doing it, but she did it so overly in these last couple episodes. Guys, I'm offended right now. I told you something about my daughter yesterday and completely took away that positive attention that they were getting and I just thought right, you're a growing woman I can't you're I I can't stand her either.
Speaker 1:I think she's making a bad name for herself and it goes to show that money can't buy you class, because I think monica g is classier than britney oh god, don't even say her name around me, um, but she's on traders, I think so right yeah, and you know, maybe because I'm actually started watching traders for the first time, but I wanted I started seeing the one with um, um, phaedra, what, oh, phaedra parks.
Speaker 2:That was OG, I think that was the.
Speaker 1:OG Wasn't that the OG season.
Speaker 2:No, that was season two.
Speaker 1:Oh, okay, what were you doing? What was that? I thought you were going to say Bob the Drag Queen.
Speaker 2:Oh, was she on it. When is she on it?
Speaker 1:Bob's Drag Queen's on it right now.
Speaker 2:Or is he? House of Villains? Um, peppermint was on season two and they got rid of her, but anywho, so I'm really into it. Someone was like, oh, have you seen that show? And I was like, no, I haven't. I think you'd be really good on it. I'm like what does that mean? So I started watching it and I'm like, wait a minute, were you just trying to come for me, like it's literally so insulting.
Speaker 1:I had somebody tell me on one of those, one of netflix's many stupid dating reality shows the circle and one of my friends we know him personally, it doesn't matter, won't say his name, um, because he just sent me a really cute birthday gift today, so I guess, anyways. But he was like Jay, you should go on the Circle, you'd be really good at it, and so I was watching it and I thought so I'm only good at creating a fake online persona to get people to like me, my face is pure agape.
Speaker 1:I cannot and I have no idea who it was, and and the thing is, I know he had no negative intentions. He had the purest of intentions, just thinking he'd be great because you're single and you would guess like to be chronically online or whatnot. But I know he had no negative intentions, but I watched and I'm maybe like halfway through.
Speaker 2:I don't know how many episodes are, so I think I will start um including that into my shows that I watch. Um, but this really hot guy that I follow on instagram and we like chit chat like he responds to my messages, I feel like super excited about it. Um, he was on traders australia and he was one of the early ones to get off um or get kicked out also, I think so, um, I need to find that one on peacock and watch it oh, my god, I'm, I'm still hung up on on salt lake city.
Speaker 1:I cannot, okay, I can't get over it. I cannot get over. I can't get over Meredith's you know, whitney, egging on that there is a listening device, or Meredith's bringing it on, and then Whitney's like you know what, oh, let's go look for it, let's go find it.
Speaker 2:But then you could hear everything that was being said in that room and it's like, well, no wonder they heard if she's being that loud. And then the fact, the way to end it, when she was like, and I'm sure they could hear me right now- you know when he goes running away.
Speaker 2:Yeah, exactly, but also listen, you know, you know me, I'm a Bronwyn, I'm here for Bronwyn, but I feel like she's beat her. It's like messy. It's not even like shady or like stirring up some tea or a drink or anything to stir the pot, it's just like it's messy. She's doing it sloppily. I'm not a fan of it. It's like do it right, like you, like learn and I don't know, like if I had a master class that she could take, she'd learn something. But I'm just kind of like I don't know.
Speaker 1:I don't know what else to say other than I'm just not a fan of it she did something that I I agreed with but did not like her tactic because I've been in a similar situation where I forgot who was coming for her it might have been most likely Brittany and she looked at Brittany and she was like are you going to say something about that? I'm looking at you, lisa, and I was like wait, wait. I mean, I was like on my phone and looked up like where the fuck did Lisa come into this? And then she attacked Lisa for not defending her and I thought you can't, you can't do that.
Speaker 1:I've been in situations like with a friend group where I've had something very wrong done to me and was very upset that not upset. I was kind of bothered that my friends, it didn't phase them, you know nothing, nothing else was done to the other person in any way, shape or form and part of me was like, well, I'm disappointed that neither one of them are coming to my defense, but it's ultimately not their responsibility I um, not to like negate from what you're saying, but if this but it's kind of I want to tie it into it and then I want you to respond Did, were the the situation that happened in your end to kind of tie it to Salt Lake, was it?
Speaker 2:it was an attack on you or something, or a call out on you or something whatever? I don't, I don't recall, but the reason why she was like Lisa attack on you or something or a call out on you or something whatever, I don't, I don't recall. Um, but the reason why she was like lisa you're not gonna say anything was because, lisa, they were friends first. Lisa brought her in on the first episode and we were out together. You introduced me to your apartment friends, we're on the rooftop kiki-ing and I say something out of line or someone starts coming for me because they didn't like my joke, which is very plausible and could happen.
Speaker 2:I understand that I'm both you and be like uh, you know that was just joking, I was just kidding, you're not gonna, and you didn't say anything to your friend that you introduced me to. I'd be like what the fuck? Like jay, have my fucking back. You know that that didn't come out in any way. I wasn't doing anything maliciously, I was just trying to be funny, and they can't take a joke.
Speaker 1:No, I'll just sit there with my drink.
Speaker 2:But that's what I mean, Lisa Barlow get your shit together. So that's that's why I feel like, like she. She should have come to her defense and I think she had every right to because you're. That's why she feels so like. And also like if you were to rent a villa and put me in the other one with other people, when you're supposed to be my friend, even though we may not be happy with each other, and you stick me with these people that I can't stand, which you know who I'm talking about.
Speaker 1:And make her flight coach. Right right, I'm a flight coach and I'm a wear coach. If let's, and make her and make her fly coach, right right, I don't fly coach, I don't wear coach I?
Speaker 2:I'm just saying like you know what I mean, like like there's there needs to be some kind of like I'm gonna, I'm gonna feel offended that okay you're, you're picking, I'm, I'm like, just you're throwing me off to the side because of your friend group and. I'm like the new one or something. You know what I mean. I don't know.
Speaker 1:No, I can understand that I can co-sign to that. Yeah, I can co-sign to that. But I think you're also right about Bronwyn being a little messy right now and I think she is obviously just going through a lot, as you can tell, I think, with her, her situation, with her husband, that she's being way more forthcoming about or soon to be, except that I should say, which I still can't wait for that no prenup divorce to happen, um, but she told all the all the ladies about the infidelities and whatnot.
Speaker 2:So also, how was that anything so with with that? Because I remember we discussed that and we were reading about it or whatever. But then they came out together on Watch what Happens Live together. So we had read and discussed that there was a possible whispers of divorce and she was on Watch what Happens Live and he was in the audience of andy cohen's show her husband so are they or aren't they?
Speaker 1:I'm a little confused right now. So this is bronwyn newport's husband todd's divorce settlement with ex revealed. So that's actually with his ex, not with her, right? Oh okay, so I'm not seeing that here. So then, where was this gossip and rumors about the divorce? Because you heard them too right.
Speaker 1:I didn't need to start saying allegedly baby girl, just in case maybe because she did just post three days ago with her and her husband on a plane, looking all happy, happy so and not in coach right, because she bought it with her own fucking obviously not in coach. Oh, I cannot, I cannot get over that.
Speaker 2:Um, okay, anyways, I could talk about my taste for them forever, and you haven't seen beverly hills no, I have not.
Speaker 1:Oh girl, am I in front of the wild ride?
Speaker 2:so good, and there I'm just gonna say one comment, because I need you to see it, and then we can talk about it next time I guess, um, but dureet and um kyle are getting into it, right.
Speaker 2:And she just said I just want for once for you to not yell at me with your veins popping out on your forehead because she has so much botox there's no movement. So and then you see kyle yelling at her and it's like all her veins like this, just like popping out on her forehead, and I just love dorit's. Little comebacks this season are to die for and I'm living for it and I love it I love that she's in her element right now and even though a lot of her press is bad press, I support her having a very strong voice for herself.
Speaker 1:Finally, even though and like I told you before, I I'm I'll, even though I love kyle, I am team to read in this to a degree, I think at some point, I think kyle's right when kyle had said in one of the recent episodes I did start catching up on that a little bit, I'm not fully caught up yet where she's like you need to stop punishing me. And part of me is like, yeah, dory, like you need to, you need to stop punishing her. You. And then you acknowledged it. You, you already said well, maybe I forgot what she said, something about like the punishment where she admitted she essentially admitted to intentionally punishing her. And I'm thinking you, you need to stop, because you've made your point, you've done whatever. I do feel that kyle is probably, you know, actually remorseful and wants to move forward, and now you are just happy that you figured out how to get her to feel the way that you want her to feel and you're prolonging it and I do think that it's going to backfire in time.
Speaker 2:We're right now it's not we're gonna change the subject because you need to see this episode, and then we'll continue this conversation oh my god, okay, I'm so excited trust me, there were things that brought up. That were brought up and I was just like, oh goodness, but anywho, I were. We're going back in line. Have you seen drag race?
Speaker 1:the new one I have not seen it. I was considering going to a watch party where I think I am going to go this thursday yeah, it's gonna be for their second episode.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, for the second episode yeah, for the second episode, because the new ones come out on fridays and they're already gonna have the third one, or I guess it's gonna be for the first episode.
Speaker 1:No, I thought the new one. Okay, I'm confused, I know. All I know is that I'm going to have the third one, or I guess it's going to be for the first episode. No, I thought the new one. Okay, I'm confused. All I know is that I'm going to a drag show on Friday where they're going to do a watch party for people who didn't see it last week.
Speaker 2:So you're going on Friday.
Speaker 1:I'm going on Thursday. I'm going on Thursday for a watch party for people who didn't see it last week.
Speaker 2:Okay, so they come out on Fridays, so you'll see the second episode.
Speaker 1:Okay, I'm excited Because last week's was the second episode, and I'll be seeing my favorite drag queen here, mia Vanderbilt.
Speaker 2:I'm obsessed with her. Yes, you told me about her last time.
Speaker 1:I was actually really disappointed because I figured out who Okay, let's circle back. Who is our favorite drag queen in san antonio um christy waters?
Speaker 2:christy the most expensive water in san antonio, christy water quite literally.
Speaker 1:So I've never once met, to my knowledge, christy in non-drag right I don't know who it is, could not pick him up out of a lineup. Um, in fact, every time I tune into the little her putting on her makeup, she's already halfway through it. So I really have no clue what chrissy looks like out of drag, and I've always liked that. She's like a little batman.
Speaker 1:You know what I mean yeah I, I don't need to know, I just when, when the light projects into the sky the pegasus theme light I go and I get my drinks and I see her shows at all the surrounding bars I found out who miss via vanderbilt. Miss via, miss me. Vanderbilt is no, and it made me so sad because I wanted the same allure that I had with christy, and I already know who how did you find out?
Speaker 1:so I always just put two and two together one day, because I always realize that people, every time miss mia vanderbilt was posting, it was often a repost from spacey hayden, from this guy hayden, and I was going that must be close, it must be close. But when the new year is posting and they're redoing, you're doing recaps. Mia was posting all these different things of both of them and then I was like wait a minute, and I started going back and forth between both pages. I'm like, oh, hayden is mia.
Speaker 1:And I was like I was so bummed well, listen, you go looking for something, you're gonna find it hmm, we'll never gonna date, just saying, speaking of date, aj I had a terrible date two nights ago, tell me everything.
Speaker 1:Oh, and the cool thing is like this is it was a platonic date but nonetheless it was absolutely terrible. Um, a good friend of mine introduced me to one of her family friends and we'd been talking and hanging out and just doing a couple of dinners here and there. He was very, very new to town and whatnot. Fast forward. He ended up inviting me to a dinner party. He's a physician, he's a doctor. He invited me to a dinner party at his house last week and I went and there were four other couples there. They were all doctors and when I walked in they were deep in conversation about med school and residency and fellowships and whatnot. And so I'm just like listening signing, for I just got there. I made my little plate of food. He's actually making me tacos. He's making birria on the grill as we walk in.
Speaker 2:Oh, wow.
Speaker 1:And I know.
Speaker 1:Latino, and so I'm waiting for my plate of food? No, but he's always trying new recipes. He is Lebanese, oh yeah, and very handsome. He is very handsome, yeah. And so I'm there. And then there's another female that was there, this girl, and we start chatting. She's like are you a doctor? I'm like I'm not. She's like me neither, and I was like making jokes. I was like hearing a podcast, because they're so engrossed what they're talking about. You don't, but you can't really interject.
Speaker 1:I was having an amazing conversation with this lady. You know what I mean. She is a phd, but she's not a doctor, not a medical doctor, she's just a ph, another doctor of type I forget which kind. Um, we talked about my career, how long I've lived here, her background, and then he kept telling me my friend jack was like oops. My friend jack was like uh, oops. My friend Jack was like go, go sit down. I was like no, I'm okay, I'm okay. And then one of the other guests was like come, come, sit down. I'm like no, I'm good, I'm good.
Speaker 1:One, I was still eating my food and two, having conversational. After being told like four times to go sit down, I was like hey, I'm so sorry, and went and sat down where they continued talking about medical school and residencies. So I was like all right. Well, at one point one of the doctors talked starts talking about dating this girl so expensive. The soonest you brought up expensive dating, I jumped in right, boom, something we can relate to, I can talk to. We all talked for 20, 30 minutes about that. Then everybody got bored, I guess because they couldn't talk about themselves, and they all started leaving out one by one. Cool, so then I leave also.
Speaker 1:Well, jack starts texting me. Hey, are you okay? I'm like, yeah, I'm fine. Are you sure? I'm like, yeah, I'm great. Well, did you enjoy yourself? I'm like I had a good time the next day. Hey, are you really sure you're okay? I'm positive, I'm sure. Two, three days of this. Then he calls me later in the week. Hey, I want to make sure you're okay. I'm like Jack, I'm fine. Is there something I don't know? You guys are all doctors. Did you diagnose me with something behind my back? What is going on? Do I have six weeks to live? What's happening? He's like I just want to make sure you're okay. I'm like I'm fine. He's like. I just felt like maybe you did it having great conversations with your other guest there who wasn't a physician, a provider like I know everything about when she moved here her kids, her life, her education, the whole thing like. And he's like, okay, I just want to make sure, hey, let's do dinner. Cool, now we're at dinner and we get to dinner.
Speaker 1:Uh, this past saturday and he's one just in a very negative mood, bitching about work, which I'm here to listen to, get bent right bend to me about your work, your work. Um, randomly shows me some guy he's dating. I didn't know we were talking about that. He's venting about work and just shows me a picture on his phone. I'm like, oh, is this your co-worker? And he's like, no. I'm like, well, who is this? Oh, it's this guy I'm dating. Do you think he's cute? I'm like, oh, we're talking here.
Speaker 1:And then he just says I made a joke about you earlier today and I said, oh, okay, like, what about? And he's like yeah, I told my friends that I was going to dinner with Jay and they asked who's Jay? And I said the sad widower. And I said I'm sorry, what? Because he has a bit of an accent. And he said it again and I'm like wait me the sad, I'm a sad widower. And he's like, yes, and I was like why would you say I'm a sad widower? And he says because you're just acting like a bump in a log at my party. And I was like, oh, jack, I I told you what I was doing at your party. I was perfectly fine, I had a great time.
Speaker 1:And I was engrossed in conversation with one of your other party guests, the one that you were trying to shush me away from. And he's like oh, that's how you're acting. I was like but you and your other friends are now making a joke about me behind my back, at my expense, calling me a sad widower, where usually people that people tell me to shut the fuck up because I'm always circulating a party. And then he's like no, we didn't mean it like that. I'm like I think you did, and I'm just telling you that I don't appreciate it now. And he kept trying to walk it back right. And then we kept on with dinner a little bit and I was just really annoyed.
Speaker 1:At this point I would talk. He would just cut me off mid-sentence and start talking about something else, like, oh, I guess your turn right. So finally, at one point then he brought up the sad widower joke again. And then he brought up the fact that, um, I don't know if you're familiar with this, whenever you go to a doc, whenever you go to a doctor to see a doctor, they will refer to your doctor as the provider, your medical provider. Right, well, I had said that to him and I was like oh, one of your friends is a provider. And he's like, oh, don't say that, say doctor. And I was like I'm sorry, doctor, but why educate me? And he's like well, provider can be a doctor, it can be a nurse practitioner, it can be a pa. And if you just say provider and it gates all the work we did to become a doctor and I was like okay, okay, cool, awesome.
Speaker 1:And then, as AJ, here's where I go south, here's where it goes real south, and this is where I did something that I'm really proud of myself that I did. He asked me what does your friend so-and-so do? And I was like I don't really know. I think she works at a hotel. And he said a joke, oh, but she has to be there at 10 o'clock at night and I was like what do you mean by that? And he goes what kind of job does she have? That she's been. I was like what do you mean by that? And he goes what kind of job does she have? I was like, honestly, I don't know what she does. And he's like I do not know what your friends do. And I'm like because their employment is not the basis of our friendships.
Speaker 1:So I have a lot of very, very good friends that I have no idea what they do for a living. And he's like well, I like to know what my friends. And he's like well, I want to surround myself with people, you know, that have important things going on in their life. And I was like so you want to ask me what they do, because that translates to how important you are, and I was like that's not how I look at my friends, on my people in my social circles, and I'm like, and now that you've said that, knowing that all of your friends and yourself are doctors and that one female is a phd, so a doctor, not a medical doctor, and I'm over here a little paramedic, what are you guys saying behind my back, in addition to me being a sad widower? And I was like I was like you know what?
Speaker 2:I don't like that and I pulled cash out, dropped it on the table and I left wow, I was done, I know, and that was like a date, date or you said it was a platonic date.
Speaker 1:But then it was a platonic little, platonic little dinner date okay but I was just like one I was. I was telling one of my other friends I was like somebody could have called me a fat piece of shit. I'd have been like not true, right and be like whatever.
Speaker 2:But to attack my personality like that and then knowing that I'm just somebody's joke behind their back you know I met a lot of people that are like that, and I know, um, we probably know a few together that kind of put that kind of importance on things and, um, you know that it's not necessarily oh well, what did they do, but it's always, like you know, there's just a lot more that they shouldn't care about. That they do care about, and it's a little that could be a little frustrating.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I guess I just broke up with a friend, which was something that I've been needing to do for a while anyway, because I was actually really rocky on hanging out with him as a friend anyway.
Speaker 1:I found him to be really set in his ways and I was always making, make my excuses. Him was oh, you know he's. He's very foreign, he's very lebanese, he's only been here for four or five years and part of me is like, even if that's the case, his morals and his views on life and the way he lives his day-to-day life do not align with, do not align with mine, and I can soften my edges or adjust my edges, but I'm not going to change my core.
Speaker 2:No, of course not so done with that one Absolutely, and I think that that's something that a lot of us need to be able to do is walk away from situations or relationships a lot easier, and, listeners, you guys should take that advice. Sometimes it's okay to just walk away from people. You need to put yourself first sometimes, and you just need to. You know, sure, what am I learning from them? Or I don't want that negative person around me. Or you know, poor me, boohoo, what about me? Sometimes it's okay to walk away from all of those people.
Speaker 1:That was something one of my little New Year's intentions was. Well, first of all, one of my New Year's resolutions is to learn a new language, so I'm going to do that. I'm excited about it. I can't choose. I'm struggling choosing between Arabic, farsi or Mandarin. So I just I've been taking polls with a few of my friends. I just started doing that today, actually at lunch.
Speaker 2:My vote is Farsi.
Speaker 1:I'm leaning towards Farsi or Arabic, one of those two but everyone at my work today said they have to do Mandarin since it's the most universal language. But I've met more people that speak Farsi or Arabic versus. I don't even know if those are even closely related at all. I know they sound similar to my ears, but I don't know if they're even close. That's why I keep using them interchangeably. Sorry if I'm offending anyone out there, but anyways.
Speaker 1:I've heard people speak more of those style languages than I've heard speak Mandarin, chinese, anyways, but one of my New Year's intentions was to not be so stressed and I was mainly focusing that with work, because I love what I do and I have a passion with what I do and a big part of my job is like a liaison between, essentially, client services right to put it in corporate speak and so I'm trying to satisfy my client.
Speaker 1:Beginning pushback from my corporate, like I lose my mind and I'm constantly fighting for my clients and becoming a headache for my corporate leadership, but I can't do anything about it because I'm doing it in the right ways. But I'm like stressing over things that literally aren't going to affect me. At the end of the day, like I can tell my client sorry, it's not going to happen, right, instead of instead of like my blood pressure raising and nearly blacking out in rages. So I was like I'm not going to do that anymore. But I think I'm also going to play that to everything else with this guy Jack, I was really stressing the fact that I wanted to cut him off as a friend already like a month ago, but I didn't want to do that because of our mutual friend whom really fond of. But at this point it's not worth it yeah it's not worth it.
Speaker 1:And, um, he or she will have to understand why I did such thing. And there's no bad blood, there's no animosity. We can be in the same room together and I can be very friendly, very cordial and even friendly, right, but I can be friendly with you, but doesn't mean.
Speaker 2:You're my friend, right, exactly? Oh, speaking of which, what about the guy that y'all used to live in the same apartment, or he used to live in your apartment, how's he?
Speaker 1:so dreamy, uh-huh, uh, he is so dreamy. Um, he actually leaves the country again in like a week, actually this weekend. He, I love his personality, I love everything about how he lives his lifestyle. He's very fortunate to be able to work fully remote and he is now taking off to Europe to go ski and going to go bounce around there. I was really happy he told me about this in in, in detail, because I really wanted to.
Speaker 1:I have a method where I can fly to a few different places around the country around the world for free with my job, and one of the most reliable ones is going to Germany. But I didn't necessarily want to spend all my time in Germany. Well, we discussed where he was going and I was like, oh, I can find a Germany for free and then take trains or really inexpensive flights to where he's at. And we kind of lined it up and if all things work out like I plan to early March I might be hanging out in Germany for 10 to well, I don't even know where, but flying to Germany for 10 to 12 days and traveling, hanging out with him. But he's so dreamy, he's adorable. I wish I had more to say about him, but I don't. And if I did, I probably wouldn't.
Speaker 2:Right, right. So after the pod we'll go out and talk then.
Speaker 1:So off pod we'll chat.
Speaker 2:AJ, what about you? What?
Speaker 1:are your New Year's intentions and your resolutions I don't know.
Speaker 2:I just, you know, I've never been a resolution person. Um, I just need to get my shit together and just do whatever um. But um, I I don't think I have any for 2025. I think that I had a lot of mindset and intentions for 2024 and reached a lot of them early on, but didn't stick to anything or anything stick, or. You know, I think that the way I started 24 and ended it were very different. So I think that I'm just in a completely different mindset right now, where I'm just, like you know, just going with the flow. Wherever the flow takes me, whether it's this path, that path or whatever, down a windy one, down a smooth one, down a rocky one, down a waterfall, wherever it's ending, I'm just going. So I don't know.
Speaker 1:Well, as a great person once said, don't go chasing waterfalls. No.
Speaker 2:Now, if it takes me there, it takes me there, and I'm just going to hope by that point that I've had enough Red Bull or something to have wings and fly. But if not, we'll see.
Speaker 1:You know I love that for you. I do personally believe that you I remember not verbatim, but I do remember the energy of the intentions that you wanted to and goals you wanted to achieve and put out in 2024, when we had our discussions, also here on the pod as well, yeah, and I, I do feel that one, I one, I was very, I'm very proud of you and the amount of work and effort you did to reach those goals or at least a certain way of feeling that you wanted to feel, and I feel like you achieved a lot of that. And I think that if you, if you are feeling, and if I and if I interpreted that, and I think that if you are feeling and if I interpreted it wrong, I'm sorry, but if you are feeling that maybe you didn't end up where you wanted, I only think it's because you reached your goals very quickly. You made a lot of life changes to attain the happiness that you wanted and I think maybe you were like, well, it's July, I'm done. Now what?
Speaker 2:Right.
Speaker 1:But ultimately, I think you're very good at that and I would challenge you to find and set some sort of goal that way you can work towards it, because you've told me many times, figure out what you want and then go out and fucking get it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and you can't do that without having a plan or that happens something you're chasing you're right so I hope you find a goal and chase it I'm chasing something, but with that I think I want to um, send off um to our listeners that you know, look for something in Chase. That was a very good way to end it, so that was really good not to go on anymore. I think that with us, we will hopefully be a little bit more regular and less erratic with 2025, with Dose of Delusion. So you know, I've gotten some feedback regarding that and you know I didn't hear an episode this week or whatever, and it's like it's coming. It's coming. So maybe just doing that would be some kind of goal for 2025. And next time you listen, we're going to have our annual discussion. On what topic are we going to do?
Speaker 1:Oh my God, I can't wait for Kinks and Fetishes, that's right so everyone who was listening the last year and heard it.
Speaker 2:It's coming back.
Speaker 1:We got some new ones.
Speaker 2:We probably do. We got some new ones. We probably do, and if you have any that you'd like to share, find us on at Dose of Delusion on Instagram. You can follow me, aj the Silver Fox, and you can follow Jay 100 Shades of Cray on Instagram, so talk to you then.
Speaker 1:Love you guys. Bye-bye now Bye.
